Topic: As parents, we constantly want the best educational foundation for our children. This playing field is not always leveled equally for African American children.. Various factors such as socioeconomic status, demographics, and naivete affect positive projection for our children. Let’s not forget the staggering gaps in educational advancement between black and white children, even when we are the ‘right school district’. We are discussing what it means to have a diverse educational experience and improvement of cultural competency for black children in schools with our guest Mia Mbroh.

Guest Momologist: Mia Mbroh

Mia Mbroh is a licensed professional counselor and nationally certified counselor with over 25 years experience in the fields of education, counseling, parenting education and family/community reconciliation and restoration. She holds a graduate degree in family counseling and certification in mediation. She is a graduate of Plano Leadership Class 22, a former board member of Plano Youth Leadership and the Diversity Board of Plano Independent School District. Mia presently sits on the board of Plano Prime and on the Advisory Board for Christian Parenting through the Denison forum. Mia spent 10 years in parent education with Practical Parent Education of Collin County.Mia’s appreciation for learning and teaching has allowed her a rich and meaningful career in a myriad of areas dealing with social and emotional health.  She has provided community education on local and national platforms.
