About Dr. Alicia Makaye
Dr. Alicia Makaye is a philanthropist, entrepreneur and co-founder of GXA (she is the “A” in GXA). GXA is an IT Solutions provider that helps other businesses take command and control of their IT. She is an U.S. Airforce Veteran and a graduate of U.T. Dallas with a Ph.D. in Public affairs. Dr. Makaye is an alumni of Goldman Sachs 10,000 small businesses entrepreneurship program (cohort 10). Most recently Dr. Makaye was recognized by Dallas Business Journal as a 2019 Minority Business Leader for her leadership and contributions to the community.
Dr. Makaye frequently speaks and participates in activities that foster youth development. She currently serves on UT Dallas Diversity Advisory Council and MPA Advisory Board and elected as Richardson Chamber as Advisory Board Member.
GXA was recognized as the recipient of the Inc. 5000 award, one of America’s fastest growing companies in 2014 and 2019 and is also a Microsoft Partner. Since GXA inception 14 years ago, the company has served over 300 small to medium sized businesses in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Dr. Makaye has led the GXA community outreach initiatives including Adopting a Veteran Family, providing financial literacy workshops for the youth and backpack drives. GXA collected and donated over 100 computers to Imani Bridges to empower men and women in Nigeria. In 2018, GXA collected and donated over 300 computers to the community locally and internationally.
When Dr. Makaye is not running the business or volunteering, she is attending Dallas Mavericks Basketball games with her children or going to Hockey games with her husband of 17 years. Jet Skiing is her favorite vacation leisure activity.
